Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to find our locations, read our menu and order from us — whether you browse with a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, magnification or captions.
The standard we build to
This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA — the current version of the standard used to judge whether a website is usable by people with disabilities. It organises accessibility around four ideas: that content should be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.
We describe ourselves as partially conformant. Our own pages met the standard when we last checked them, but parts of the experience come from other companies and we cannot guarantee those. Those parts are listed below rather than glossed over.
What that means in practice
- Our full menu is real text — not a photograph of a menu and not a PDF, both of which screen readers struggle with.
- Every address, phone number and set of opening hours is selectable text you can enlarge, copy or have read aloud.
- The whole site can be operated by keyboard, and whatever you have focused is always visibly outlined.
- A “Skip to main content” link lets you jump past the header instead of tabbing through it on every page.
- Text and background colours are checked against the 4.5:1 contrast minimum, including where text sits over artwork.
- Pages reflow at 200% zoom without forcing you to scroll sideways, and stay readable on screens as narrow as 320px.
- Buttons and links are large enough to hit accurately, and whatever you have focused is never left hidden behind the sticky header.
- Nothing on the site requires a dragging movement. The map can be moved with its buttons, and every location has a button that jumps straight to it.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the animations turn themselves off.
- Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; purely decorative artwork is hidden from assistive technology so it does not clutter the reading order.
How we check
Last reviewed 2026-07-31, using axe-core 4.12 automated scan (wcag2a, wcag2aa, wcag21a, wcag21aa, wcag22a, wcag22aa rulesets) across all four pages, plus manual keyboard-only, 200% zoom, 320px reflow, target-size, focus-obscuring and measured colour-contrast checks. Automated tools only catch part of the picture, so the manual passes matter as much as the scan.
Where we know we fall short
These parts of the experience are provided by other companies. We link to them because they are genuinely useful, but their accessibility is not ours to fix — so here is how to get the same thing another way.
- SkyTab Online (Shift4) — online ordering and payment. Ordering runs entirely on Shift4's own domain under their code; we link out to it and cannot change how it behaves. Every location takes orders by phone.
- Leaflet + MapLibre with OpenFreeMap tiles (OpenStreetMap data) — the interactive locations map. Map panning and tile imagery come from third-party code and data. Every address, phone number and set of hours on the page is real selectable text, and each location links to turn-by-turn directions. Nothing is only available inside the map.
- Instagram and Facebook — the social links in the footer. Those platforms control their own accessibility.
